New dish this week. Ayi says this is not Korean but a 朝鲜族 (Chao xian= ?) dish. Egg plant rice.
I put the raw materials at the side for me to remember easily next time. It allowed the kids to willingly down a lot of egg plant (aka aubergine, brinjal...??) which is rare. They wouldn't eat it stir-fried. Dh and I like it in any form.
Just slice the eggplant, and the thing there you see (can someone tell me the name? Ayi told me in Chinese, I can't recall how to say it...), stir fry, and then add together with 1 cup glutinous rice mixed with 1 cup Thai long-grain rice (already washed), cook in rice cooker as per normal. Tada! Yum yum.

Another Indian family leaving Tianjin for good. So I took a group pic of us. Gave her a small farewell gift, more for her son. But anyway... That's another familiar face gone from the "bus stop mom gang"... Sigh...
This below, from left, French mom, me, mom who is leaving, B, and another Indian mom, D, who loves China so much she might be a permanent resident. :-)

And it happened to be a "blue sky day" yesterday, so it is a must to take pics.
I was out to meet F, a German mom, who was introducing me to a very good discount shop that sold labels like BCBG, Anna Sui, Gucci, Calvin Klein, Diane Von Furstenburg etc clothes, bags and shoes.
They are all made in China but fail to be exported due to some reason, and are sold cheaply. Yet the quality is very good and it is exactly what you see in the magazines... I couldn't see which part failed to make the QC but as long as we can't tell which part is faulty, we are ok with buying it. It is very much cheaper but stylish and of good quality. And as far as I know, they are not fakes.
On the way, I took pics of the TV Tower.

And the shop is just opposite the Tianjin University. Tianjin University and Nankai University are the 2 best unis here and rank highly across China too. Tianjin Uni is famous for their science subjects and Nankai for language and arts. At least that's what people tell me. This is the Tianjin Uni.

I tried on at least 10 pieces of clothing, really all very nice. Ended up buying 3 pieces. 2 lovely tops, and 1 Gucci dress for the wedding on Sunday. yay! And I spent only S$150 for all 3.
And I did consult Dh ok? I smsed him about it, haha.
rainbows every day, do not worry for the morrow
