Some of ds1's friends were still holidaying (due to CNY hols) and they took a longer vacation. Above shows the book set his German Chinese classmate gave him. It has German and Chinese words, but mainly Chinese, and the artwork is simply beautiful.
Below: His Korean classmate just handed him his bday present in school. A Korean notebook, a lovely card and a pen/pencil set.

N and her son Matt gave both boys and me a treat at McDonalds and then gave ds1 his gift, which was a magnetic fit-together hero warrior. Of course, ds1 loved it.

Initially was going to have a small cake in school too, but it got more and more belated. The week of his bday, school just reopened and they had a farewell party for S who returned to Australia. There was so much cake and goodies that week, so I thought, maybe the next.
Then there's Valentine's Day, so I thought, just let them bring cookies to school to share with their teachers and friends. That should do, he doesn't need a cake in school. His teacher agreed, so it's settled.
rainbows every day, do not worry for the morrow
