It's great to be back! :-) Though only for less than 2 days. We're leaving again for Grand Teton Natl Park (church camp), then afterwards to the Yellowstone Natl Park which is nearby.
Reached home this morning at 3.30am. House is in a mess, living room not much space to move ard, luggage still unpacked everywhere... Cos after we got home, we tried to sleep (didn't sleep on plane). Then I was cooking lunch, doing laundry, then cooking dinner. That's it, whole day went by like that.
Tmr we'll have to rush and unpack everything, then pack for camp. Totally different set of things needed. From a busy city vacation to a rough-it-out camp. I am still going to see how we are going to cope with a week without electricity.
I don't know if it is that bad, but apparently the other church members told us the tent cabins don't have electricity, and so we may freeze to death at night (4-10deg Celsius). Hence we will have to bring all our jackets, hats, gloves, thick socks, firewood (in case really too cold), sleeping bags.. A church friend lent us a stove, a lantern (for light at night) and a cooler (to keep food fresh). But we were told not to ever keep food in the tent cabin at night, cos bears/ raccoons/ chipmunks etc will just come and get it. We're supposed to make sure all things scented will go into an airtight box and left in our cars. Even soaps and body lotions should be kept away from our lodging at night too.
I think the kids will miss the TV, I will miss the computer, dh will miss the computer plus his PDA, handpphone, iPod.... :-) Even the digicam and videocam we bring must be used sparingly, in case battery runs out. We've got spares and we've got a car charger, just in case. I don't want to miss taking photos just because of the battery. I also don't want to be caught missing or in danger without the use of a cell phone (due to battery being dead).
Apart from these concerns, it will be a new experience (imagine sleeping with insects and hearing howls of wolves rather than vehicles). And we are looking forward to the huge campfire where we will actually roast our food and eat it together. The songs too.
I don't have time to sort out my photos, haven't even looked at them yet, just downloaded all onto my desktop so as to clear the SD cards for the next trip. So will have to update blog only after the camp.
To all those who so kindly passed gifts to law for him to give to me in NYC, thank you so much! The books and activities for the kids, the Sun Yanzi CD, the cards, the clock, etc etc, I love them all. The thing that made me laugh so hard and shed some tears was the video consisting all your greetings to me. Kisses from Mag, Judith showing me your growing belly (wish I can pat baby!), Huiming telling me abt Yosemite, Woon keat and so on, really touching and funny.
BUT what is the segment that SHOCKED me the most and gave me such a big surprise?!?! Aiyoh, I still can't believe law got him to say a greeting too! all my students will be so amused. wish i can show them. haha. But he was the most diplomatic and professional lah. Should be right, given the number of speeches and addresses he has to give all the time. :-) Wow, now that VCD is my prized possession lor! :-)
See you all in 10 days' time!
rainbows every day, do not worry for the morrow
