Bridal Shower for Lynlee at Kaisers' new house

It was quite hectic. After the trip back from the zoo, I quickly bathed both kids and then got ready myself.

Judy came to pick me up at 4.30pm and dh kindly looked after the kids for about 3 hrs while I was gone. It is not easy cos ds2 is very clingy to me.

I had a ball of a time. Of course! It is rare to be free and not laden with 2 rambunctious boys!

The new house was so beautiful and the patio was especially wonderful because of the space, the wooden deck and the amazing view. Just over their backyard fence is a golf course! So of course, there's greenery and well, just a great view! It was very breezy too.

Below shows some of the punctual ones lounging ard and chatting. All of them are from the church, except for the 2 bridesmaids of the bride-to-be (not pictured here).

And the terrific host (below) who cooked all the food, baked the yummy cheesecakes (cherry and blueberry!) and entertained us with the games and video of the groom-to-be.

She is very skilled at quilting too. She gathers the ladies together on a Sat morn each month to quilt together. I never joined, not because I am not interested, but I think this craft takes time, effort and money, which I don't have now.

At the basement of her house, she's got a sewing room to herself, really really neat! Next time when my kids are grown, I can immerse myself in my hobbies too! must wait patiently...

The food: chicken lasagne, broccoli bacon salad, various drinks and the cheesecakes I mentioned. And hey, I got all the recipes from her already! yay!

On the left is the bride-to-be sitting in the center, waiting to open her presents. This is the last thing on the programme already.

Before there was a fun game, whereby we guests were all given a list of 20 questions... They were questions already put to the groom-to-be and he had answered them in solitude, and was videotaped by the hostess.

Now we guests tried to think how would he have answered the Qs, and the bride-to-be was given the same Qs. After we all finished, the bride2b sat in the center and was grilled for her answers, one by one. After each Q, the groom2b's answers were played on the TV. Everytime she had a wrong answer that did not match his, she's have to eat and chew on a bubblegum. (The mass of gum will get bigger and bigger, and she cannot spit it out!)

It was hilarious. We also had a lot of fun cos some of the audience who knew her well had some answers correct and they were so excited, screaming away. Also, the Qs were funny...

eg:

1. Which is the place Lynlee would most like to travel to?

she said: Hawaii! at once... and when played back, he said: to a baseball game

Everyone was so "mad" at him. poor guy

2. What breakfast item do you like the best?

she said: my mom makes very good sausages and biscuits gravy, which he loves

he said: Pop Tarts

Everyone was in stitches when she exclaimed that they will never ever buy pop tarts in future. and she looked like she was going to kill him. haha

3. If Lynlee is a kitchen tool, what would she be and why?

she said: a knife, cos I'm sharp (which incidentally is exactly what i wrote on my paper)

he said: a fork, cos she can also comb her hair with it

Anyway, towards the end, her mouth was so full of gum she had problems talking...

But it was all a whole lot of fun and everyone just laughed and laughed, incl her.

Though I don't know her well (in fact this shower is the first time I was meeting her), I found myself laughing really hard too, and it was so enjoyable.

Gifts-wise, I shared with 3 other church friends cos I didn't know what to get. Anyway they all have registries here, so it's a guarantee that all the guests would get something she likes, cos she chose them.

She had sooo many presents, she was all set for her new kitchen, bathroom and such already! We got her an exquisite floral bathroom set that she listed on her "Bed, Bath and Beyond" registry.

Sharon (a grandmother) then piped in at the end of the gift-opening session, "Hands up all those who are already married for 25 yrs and wished they had all these for their bridal showers!" Sooooo many hands went up! Then she said, amid laughter, "Why don't we have showers for all those who are married for 25 yrs? Then we can throw out all our old stuff and get new ones like these!!"

haha...
