If it can't be viewed, there's also a link but you have to join multiply (bit troublesome): Kids playing instruments together

I have to move on, so am now resuming my posts.. Have spent all my free waking time searching for the folder already, time to let go... still hope one day it'll appear again! well, it's been great to hv so much help through the tags! now still hv some hope left..

And I will start making DVD backups all the time from now on..

For once, something new: a video clip.

Find it quite funny, so will share.
Both kids were playing around with their percussion instruments, while watching this Chinese Orchestra VCD.

The VCD was a recording of a "Beyond Boundaries" concert that hcco held at the Esplanade in 2004? I was the tr-IC of CO then. I love these student performances and recordings. Very memorable too. Reminds me of all the hardship and effort they went through in the practices and the organization of the concert. Not to mention finding sponsors too.

The particular piece they were listening to at that moment is "Dong1 Hai3 Yu2 Ge1". (Sorry I still need to learn how to type Chinese characters here, must ask one of you one day, or you can email me to teach me. :-)) Somehow ds1 loves it. And he influences his brother too.

Such that, poor ds2 beat so enthusiastically till he hurt his finger. quite amusing. you can see, at the last part, he suddenly stopped playing and was rubbing his finger.

ds1 could only have one clave (rhythm stick) for his drum because his sotong mummy forgot to pack his drumsticks into the box when we shipped his chinese drum over. He has a pair of nice pernambuco wood chinese drumsticks, made by dh especially for him. He also has a few other pairs of western drumsticks given to him by Timothy and Lawrence (spore church friends) and others. I couldn't believe that I forgot to bring even a single pair.

So we borrowed the claves from the library (will post abt it later) and to be fair, each son can only hold onto 1 stick. Before borrowing this, they were using chopsticks to drum. :-) But the sound was pathetic lah.

Next video clip shows them still imitating the CO players without the VCD. This time, ds1 decided to sing his "operatic arias". Actually more like he was trying to vocalise the percussion part of the CO piece? At the same time, he decided he must do some actions to accompany the "shouting". It was terrible, but so hilarious when I reviewed it that I decided to share it. :-)

When I look at ds2 I also want to laugh because he didn't seem to mind the horrible music accompaniment. In fact he was caught up in the fanatics of his brother.
