The vest he had to wear as a kinderskiier, and a button pinned on his sleeve that had different stages. If he mastered a stage, he'd get a sticker pasted on that badge/ button. E.g. the first stage was learning to wear the skis. So he got a sticker of a pair of skis to paste on that button. Then when he mastered starting and stopping by himself, he got a stop sign sticker. There are 3 more stages to master, skiing an S course (learning to turn right or left) amongst them.
He has only the first 2 stickers so far. Think the best thing is he loves it so much. We have a video clip of him jumping up and down in his skis telling his instructor he's ready, as they were perched atop the slope. Kids... sigh, they can learn fast cos they're not afraid of falling. For me, although i was able to recall what I learnt in Melbourne last time, I found myself more afraid to ski down slopes now, and i kept thinking th slope was very steep! when ds1 will just plunge ahead. i am sooo afraid of falling, keep thinking I will break a bone if i tumble down... :-)
That's ds1 behind with his classmates (about 5-6 kids, age range from 4-7). ds2 in the foreground. ds1 was the youngest in his class, and therefore the more daring. (never die before, that's why). The class got smaller as time passed. why? first a girl cried and said she doesn't want to learn anymore. and then later on, when they proceeded up the ski lift to a higher part, another girl backed out.
On the left: they were starting off. ds1 is the one with the red pants. On the right: they learned to stop, with the skis pointing together.
Have some video clips of them skiing. File too big. will probably post them on the Multiply site. that's me below: not too well taken, cos against the sunlight, but just post it cos i realised i have posted very few of myself so far. just to show what changes have taken place. not much right? except my hair is longer. haven't had it cut since i arrived here... :-)
ds1 kept saying he wants to go again. this sat we have another church work day, so maybe apr 14. that'd be def the last time cos the ski resort is closing right after that. i will stay home with ds2, scared of the winding roads up the mtn. urrrghhh.
